When it comes to the of the perfect wardrobe one must always be wary of key, timeless pieces that are important staples for any fashionista. For example a camel coat is so very Jakie O, and paired with a set of Tom Ford Sunnies you just cant go wrong. What i find my self following is the queen of style Rachel Zoe’s advice. This means living in an oversized chunky knit, structured leggings, and lace-up motor boots. What i always love to watch is what models are wearing backstage, usually this is a prime example of high fashion vs. wearable comfort. Amazing boots, must-have knits, and go-to denim. Models have perfected this effortless chic look that rest of fashion followers strive to imitate.

Missoni and its timeless appeal will be forever fashion forward.To all the fashionistas in training, any opportunity that you have to score a piece of your own, i beg you to take the chance. A Missoni is effortlessly chic, and forever modern. Second time around on Newbury st in Boston usually has a few pieces that are worth looking at, if you cant spring for the new. Word to the wise, spring is all about PoPs of color, and what better way to take advantage of this trend than in Italy's best. I was vintage shopping today in one of my favorite shops Mint ( see older posts for Mint info), and i was lucky enough to get a turquoise crochet neck spring Missoni dress! Cant wait to rock this piece in Paris in the spring with a pair of motorcycle boots. Stay tuned. c

Sweet Cupcakes is to Boston, What Sprinkles is to L.A.

Today i found my new haven, it happened to take the form of a chic little cupcake salon in Cambridge. From the decor to the delicious treats, you really cant go wrong with a quick stop to this super chic cupcake parlor. Any fashionista needs a spot to catch her breath after a long day of shopping and the pink and white, Marie Antoinette (let them eat Cake!!!) inspired cupcake shop hit my spot! You have a large selection of lil cakes to choose from for around $3.50. The portions are small, just enough to ease your sweet tooth, but nothing to large that could compromise a fashion physique.

NYFW REPORT

Im in love with the variation of looks and inspiration that glided down runways of NYFW last week. I was pleased to see that this seasons looks were resurrections of 70’s chic, with futuristic hints that were truly BANANAS. Rodarte was a prime example of structure, and ethereal balance where Vera Wang somehow managed to make rocker-chic still look delicate. However, there is one designer those in the front-row hold there breath to see, Marc Jacobs. His innovative vision and impeccable talent make him the number one go to show almost every season. What WILL Marc do next? xox

I was called personally by an LF Stores sales associate to attend their annual invitation only sales event, something that i would normally look forward to for the amazing fashion and cultured crowd. This year however, seemed to be a tad different. It was as if middle-school let out early inside the private sale. Expecting the best of Boston's shopping elite this came as a shock how young, rich, and in titled these girls came across. The fashion of course didn't disappoint, i scored an amazing sweater and a great floppy hat, but word to the wise, LF please improve your guest-list.

I literally cant get over these chunky 80’s inspired must haves. You may think that such a statement piece would be hard to incorporate into your styling, but how wrong you are! You can play the outfit down by paring them with an LBD (little black dress,) or you can practice this seasons trends by wearing a color block shift dress in a funky print, AMAZE.

What Trash Bags and Dior Have in Common

My love for vintage shopping comes as no surprise to those who know me well, but there is nothing i love more than what i call a vintage find worth saying AMAZE. Its funny to think that the most amazing vintage store is in a small town in the Berkshires, but believe it. My Idol Petria was a Yale law school grad, and now has put that behind her to run a truly one of a kind vintage boutique. I frequented this spot to chat about fashion, modeling, and her travels quite frequently when i lived in the area and cant wait for my next visit. Ill never forget one sunday i went to my usual cafe, and then visited her for a personal shopping hour or two. She was quiet excited about the story she had for me. At a house party that she had been to that weekend the owner had asked what she did for work. She explained she owned a vintage store and he proceeded to take her to the basement to look at some items he had. In a black trash bag he removed a vintage Dior dress made by Mr. Dior himself. To those who know fashion this is BEYOND. This just makes the followers of the fashion world believe again in the tales that made us fall in love. Fashion is a fantasy world and this truly was a fairy tale ending. Petria was written up in Vanity Fair, and then sold the gown to a private buyer.

NEON

From Lips to bags neon is a trend that i truly love to see strut down runways this season. As many women shy away from brights, i think the fashion worlds resurrection of color pops is a refreshing diversion from the earth tones of past seasons. Don’t get me wrong, i love a white or a nude outfit, but 2011 should be celebrated with PoPs of color! And what better way to do so, than with these vibrant accessories i've pulled from this seasons collections!

Statement LIPS:

I have taken the “Statement Lip” trend by storm this season! I first purchased lip color #40 by Makeup Forever, (available exclusively @ Sephora,) and knew I was hooked. #40 holds the perfect amount of orange and pink , that makes your mouth PoP, but leaves the crazy at home. I really want to encourage people to take the “Statement lip” trend away from this seasons runways, and make it sidewalk ready.The best way to play up this trend without overdoing it, means keep styling simple. Shift dresses, blacks or white blazers, and nude trousers all the way.

Fashion, for me, is about mixing contemporary styles with vintage. There is nothing more exciting than finding a new shop that scratches my vintage itch. On a shopping spree this weekend, my longtime friend Skye, and I came across a new “unique boutique,” in Beverly Massachusetts. The window display was modest in comparison to the designer treasures that one can find inside. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of luxury goods. We encountered Marc by Marc Jacobs messenger bag that retails for about $500, where Mint had it priced at $180. There are Jimmy Choo pumps, Christian Dior suits, and an amazing selection of sweaters and skirts that are all very reasonably priced. When I first entered the store, a classic white mini skirt, with very small gold chain detailing on the waistband and hem, immediately caught my eye. I grabbed it and examined its condition(mint,) and proceeded to check the size. A beautiful size 34 (2 U.S.) Escada mini skirt was my first “must-have” of the day. The skirt is perfect for castings and paired with an edgy shoes, will add contrast to its delicate look is, oh so very chic.
What I love about Mint is they have a lot of great clothes, well displayed and organized making it easy to find the winning items. Skye and I spent about an hour in the shop, and I left with a yellow Prada sweater, and the Escada skirt, a prime example of shopping restraint. I look forward to visiting again in my never-ending hunt for additions to the perfect vintage wardrobe. Amaze.
